Summer plans

Well this summer I have quite a few things on my list when it comes to the house. The first is to make some screens for the windows. Keep central air costs down. I am hoping to find to sets of weights in the windows for the top and bottom. If I can open both that I can get cool air i through the top Window and hot air back out through the bottom. I will also be working on exterior door seals and storm windows as well.

Update.

Well it has been 3 years now and we sure have found some interesting things. The dishwasher freezes in the winter. In order to get it to run you must pull up the counter (explains why the counter was not nailed down) and use a hairdryer to thaw it out. The reason the unit becomes so cold is because whoever installed the it felt the need to remove the lath and plaster in order increase the shallow depth. So that is on the list of fixes. While we are on the subject of the kitchen. We removed the cheap wood laminate, a layer of vinyl tile and the some sub-flooring to get down to the original wood floor that was in pretty good shape. Before the removal of the aforementioned layers the kitchen floor was close to an inch and a half taller than the rest of the main floor with a nasty lip.

Welcome: Our new home.

My wife and I closed on our first home, a 1920's Arts & Crafts Bungalow. It is not quite as iconic as As those found in California. But we love it. To start with the good there is hardwood throughout the house. The living room has a white painted brick fireplace with a red brick hearth. It looks like the home was extensively renovated in the 40's or 50's with an addition to the back of the house. The basement was upgraded from from massed stone to a contemporary basement. It look like the windows were replaced at that time as well. They are all double-hung led weighted 3 over 1 and 4 over 1 and one fixed 6 pain. You can see in the basement where the old Octo-furnace use to be. They had to patch the cement as the floor looked to have been pored around it. You can even see the old gas line pipe covered in cement.
